A story that Alfredo told Salvatore in Cinema Paradiso
Once upon a time, a king gave a feast for the loveliest princess in the realm. Now a soldier who was standing guard saw the king's daughter go by. She was the most beautiful of all and he instantly fell in love. But what is a simple soldier next to the daughter of a king? Well, at last he succeeded in meeting her and told her he could no longer live without her. The princess was so taken by the depth of his feelings that she said to the soldier, " If you can wait for 100 days and 100 nights under my balcony at the end I shall be yours." With that, the soldier went and waited one day, two days, then ten, then twenty. Each evening, the princess looked out and he never moved! In rain, in wind, in snow, he was always there. Birds shit on his head, bees stung him but he didn't budge. At the end of 90 nights, he had become all dry, all white. Tears streamed from his eyes. He couldn't hold them back. He didn't even have the strength to sleep. All that time, the princess watched him. At long last it was the 99th night and the soldier stood up, took his chair and left.

what was it about the princess that made the soldier fall in love with her? it's but only her freaking looks, he knows nothing about her, or even what kind of person she is like lor.
that is not love, that is called lust.
anyway, even if that soldier made it past the 100 day mark, he would never get the respect of the princess who saw him give into her wilful whims. it's a lose-lose situation for the soldier.
xxoos, don't be so realistic mah, maybe this is one of those really sweet stories... though how can he tahan for 100 days? and how cld he have the energy to lift up his chair then? not practical.. haha, i contradict myself.
So why didn't he want to wait anymore? and what happened after that?
tstar, can't help but be realistic leh... hai...
sometimes cannont means cannot, no matter wait how long, the wait how pain, still cannot means cannot, and nothing can change facts...
*sigh*
I'm going to treat this story as just that, a story. It doesn't have to reflect any form of 'reality'. Some stories are just not meant to be deconstructed.
The reason why I blogged about this story is because it touched a chord in me. Do not really care about whether he lust/love the princess and whether he can tahan for 100 days anot..
Sometimes, the beautiful thing about stories, especially fairytale-like ones is precisely the fact that it DOES not reflect reality.
